Professional Certificate in ESG Investment and the ISSB Standards

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainability to individuals who want to work as sustainability consultants or need a basic understanding of sustainability to advance their careers. The course also aims to prepare candidates for the Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) exam by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in sustainability. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in ESG integration and its impact on financial performance, sustainability concepts and guidelines, specifically the ISSB S1 & S2, and will be able to apply these concepts in their professional lives.

Pilot GSF Capacity Building Support Scheme

This programme is one of the Eligible Programmes under the Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme .

Eligible applicants may apply for reimbursement of relevant fees upon successful completion of Eligible Programmes, subject to a ceiling of HK$10,000 and other conditions.

Eligible applicants may claim up to 80% of the reimbursable fees of an Eligible Programme.

Eligible applicants who are full-time students in relevant disciplines during the whole period of an Eligible Programme (i.e. from the enrollment date to the completion date of the Eligible Programme, both dates inclusive) may claim up to 100% of the reimbursable fees of an Eligible Programme.

Target Audience
  1. Individuals who are required to formulate and implement companies’ sustainable policies and strategies.
  2. Individuals ’s working environment is required to understand the General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information.
  3. Banking / Financial related practitioners who are interested in knowing wider spectrum of knowledge about green and sustainable finance for career advancement or transformation.
  4. Individuals/ Professionals / consultants who are building strategies that move the needle on sustainability efforts within their organizations.
  5. Individuals who are preparing for the CESGA exam to advance their careers.
Admission Requirements

Students who meet the following conditions may be admitted:

  1. Hold Diploma Yi Jin or Diploma in Applied Education; or
  2. Hold a secondary school diploma (including six-year new high school curriculum and five-year HKCEE
    curriculum); or
  3. Applicants with equivalent or above academic qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    1. Carbon Assessments

    o Introduction to carbon assessments (e.g. ISO 14064-1)

    o The logic of assessment

    o Real-world examples of sustainability initiatives

  • Lecture 4 : Global trends on ESG Investment and Investing across Asset Classeso Giving an introduction to the global developments of ESG in business and financial sector and ESG-related regulatory trends. It provides an overview of ESG investment development in the market.o Giving an introduction to ESG and Sustainable Investing across multi asset classes, including equality, bond, commodities etc. It discusses on how ESG-strategies developing according to different asset classes.
  • Lecture 5: ESG Integration into Fundamental and Financial Analysiso Discussing how to analyses and integrate qualitative analysis of material issues into different valuation models and learning the general steps of the investment process chain.o It introduces the main source of ESG information and the main ESG raw data issues and also analyses how to integrate ESG information into investment decisions.
  • Lecture 6:  Practical Case Study for ESG integrationo Case Study of a MNC or global business to analyse and integrate qualitative analysis of material ESG and sustainability issues into company strategy and drive financial performance.o Practical Tips for preparing CESGA Certification Exam
Assessment

Attendance: 70 % out of 18 hours, and

Written Exam 50 questions. (Passing Score : 50%)
